A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association confirms what many weightlifters have known for years: “resistance exercise training [is] associated with a significant reduction in depressive symptoms.” The peer-reviewed research paper published in June of last year is a meta-analysis of 33 clinical trials including 1877 participants. It concludes: “The available empirical evidence supports resistance exercise training as an alternative and/or adjuvant therapy for depressive symptoms.” Read the full published study here: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapsychiatry/article-abstract/2680311.

The practice of law is stressful. I know; I’ve been there. Lawyers suffer from high rates of depression and substance abuse. One reason I founded Law & Motion is to help attorneys (and other people with high-stress office jobs) improve not just their physical health but also their mental well-being. I can design and coach you through a fitness regimen that includes resistance training and also other modalities like high intensity interval training, bodyweight exercises, suspension training, and even boxing.
